Welcome to our website! You are invited to join Zvi and me for an incredible air adventure. My name is Ed Galkin, a retired dentist and Cessna 210 owner. My co-captain Zvi Mosery and I are going to fly around the world. This will be my fourth circumnavigation.

Our mission on this flight is to raise awareness and donations for Alzheimer’s and hopefully get a little closer to finding a cure for this terrible disease.

If you look at our proposed itinerary, you will see that we travel both the northern and southern hemispheres and cross the equator twice. As we proceed eastbound, each time zone is 15° of longitude wide or approximately 600 to 700 miles. That will give us an hour or less of daylight, depending on what longitude we are at. Our longest leg will be about 2200 nautical miles or about 2500 statute miles from Pago Pago, Somoa, to Hilo, Hawaii. Our plan is to spend three nights at most destinations. We may stay longer when a location is especially attractive or for routine maintenance. Of course, weather or mechanical problems can alter this plan.

Because of the long distances involved, we will be carrying an additional 160 gallons in a custom designed fuel bladder, or ferry tank. This will require removing seats 3, 4, 5 and 6 in our aircraft. This will give us a range of over 2800 statute miles if totally filled. Of course, this extra fuel weight reduces our cruise speed until fuel burn-off lightens our weight.

Preparation also includes an HF radio for overwater communications, navigation charts (including enroute and approach charts), insurance, immunization vaccinations (including updated tetanus), and survival equipment (including life jackets, a life raft, and personal locator beacons).

We are hoping that you will follow us on our journey for a cure for Alzheimer’s. Our plan is to post updates on our arrivals and departures, and also let you know what flight experiences we encounter on each leg of our voyage. We would love you to share some of your experiences at each of our destinations by commenting on our posts. You can also track and follow our flight live here, from September 18th through November 18th, 2022.

On my previous trips in 2004 and 2018 we raised a total of over $60,000 for FOP (fibrous dysplasia ossificans progressiva), a rare genetic disease, and Alzheimer’s disease. This time our goal is to raise $50,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association. Please support our cause to end Alzheimer’s by donating here. All funds go directly to the Alzheimer’s Association to help eliminate Alzheimer’s disease. Anything you can afford would be greatly appreciated!
